Tom Riddle's Literary Kin, Sort of

Never seen this before so it's new to me. Edgar Allen Poe penned a short story named the "Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar", whereupon M. Valdemar remains undead for a period of time after his death due to hypnosis.

The similarity in name to Harry Potter's arch enemy Lord Voldemort, who himself exists in a state of undead during then entire chronology of series, is rather striking. It does not appear that JK Rowling looked to
Poe for her inspiration [1].

And appropos of nothing, Valdemar is a name used by various Scandanavian monacrhs. So this would have been a name Poe came across with at some point in his life.
